Anforderungsorientierte Optimierung, Evaluation und Validierung der praktischen Inhalte der Lehre in der Medizinischen Informatik in Hochschulen für angewandte Wissenschaften (HAW)

In the Bologna process “employability” has become an important objective on the relationship between higher education and the labor market. Surveys of HR managers show that in addition to technical skills, social and communication skills are also required qualifications. This article deals with the goal of aligning and improving practical training of medical informatics in higher education to the needs of the labor market and developing a measuring instrument that evaluates the improvement. A mixed method approach consisting of web crawling, text mining (244 Job advertisements, 6 Curriculum guidelines) and student self-assessment (n=20) was used for this purpose. The frequency analysis of qualification terms includes teamwork and language (german, english) in the top ten and confirms the need for non-technical qualifications. The self-assessment of the medical informatic students was based on a uniform 5-point likert scale with 57 items. The result of the pre- and post-result shows a mean of 42.2% of 275 possible points before and 75.7% after the lecture. A t-test with significance of ρ < 0, 0001, t = -9.11 and a effect size of 2.42 (Cohen’s d) shows the effect of improving the excercise towards the job market. In conclusion, it can be seen that by using the constructive alignement principle, the students are better prepared for the job market.
